My Samoyed Gina and I went on long walks. She was lively, independent and special. I noticed that something was missing in my dog ​​equipment - colors, patterns, something different. Since I couldn't find anything in Slovenia that really appealed to me, I started drawing my ideas and creating patterns that I wanted to turn into real products one day.

In August 2020, an unfortunate set of circumstances led to the loss of Gina. Suddenly and hard. But it was this event that encouraged Matjaž and I to make the idea we had only talked about a reality - in her memory. The name? Gina's Woofs, because Gina always barked in a funny, unique way. And because it seemed right to us that her voice should live on.

When you've lived with a dog your whole life, it's hard to imagine a day without a routine and their presence by your side. So it wasn't long before Gina was joined by Murf, an energetic Australian Shepherd who filled our house with energy. It quickly became clear that she would not only be a companion dog, but also an important part of Gina's Woofs story.

After a few months of work, the first line of Gina's Woofs gear was born. We made the first samples right at home, on the dining room table. We bought the material, designed and made the first cuts, tested the collars, adjusted the lengths of the leashes, thought about what we really needed on a walk. We then gave these prototypes to friends with dogs and asked them to test them without hesitation and tell us what worked and what didn't. The responses were excellent, both in terms of usability and appearance. And that gave us the impetus to continue.

We opened our online store in September 2021. Without a big team, without agencies. We set up everything ourselves, from photos, video content, online store layout, administration to product descriptions. We invested our savings, all the free time and knowledge we had, and hoped that someone besides us would believe in this story. And although the feeling was a little scary, it was also a good one. The first customers were not just friends, they were people we didn't even know. And that meant a lot.
