20 Seconds to Safety: Taking Care of Dog Equipment is a Small Habit That Can Prevent a Big Problem

20 sekund za varnost: skrb za pasjo opremo je majhna navada, ki lahko prepreči veliko težavo

As a dog owner, you have one of the most important roles – to ensure your dog's safety. And one of the key steps in this care is to regularly check the equipment you use on walks.

Before you go for a walk with your dog, take 20 seconds to do a quick safety check on the equipment you are using during the activity. Accidental knocks & drops of equipment, possible dog bites into the material, prolonged exposure to certain weather, water, rubbing, storage method, daily use and more can damage the equipment, which can affect its functionality.

✔️ Collar: Check the fastening and buckle, seams and any tears (from bites) in the material, especially if it's a puppy.

✔️ Bib: Check the fastening and buckle, seams and any signs of wear.

✔️ Leash: Inspect the carabiners and the entire strap for any tears or other damage.

Your care for your equipment is also your care for your dog's safety! 🐕💛 By regularly inspecting, properly using, maintaining, and storing your equipment, you extend its lifespan! 🐾

If you notice any irregularities during the inspection, take action:

🔴 Material damage (cracks, wear, torn seams): Do not use the equipment until it is repaired or replaced.

🔴 Damaged parts (loose or rusty carabiners, broken buckles): Replace these parts with new ones or buy new equipment.

🔴 Excessive wear: If equipment is functioning poorly and is no longer safe, replace it immediately with a new one.

Above all, never take risks. Damaged equipment can fail during a walk, endangering the safety of your dog, you, and others.
